Run the World: Explore Running Adventures Worldwide - Running through Central Park
My biggest dream since I was 10 was to run all over the world. In 2024, one of my dreams came true—I ran all around Central Park. Before I went to the U.S., everyone told me that Central Park was too big for me to run around. But my ambition was huge, and I told myself, "Oh really? We'll see." And boom—I did it!
I had mixed feelings. I was excited and really grateful for everything that had happened to me, but also a little bit disappointed. In Europe, Central Park is romanticized and made to seem much more magical. I thought it would be filled with beautiful plants, and I would feel like I was in a jungle in the middle of the biggest city in the U.S.—but I was wrong.
The most beautiful part was the lake, with huge skyscrapers rising above it. It looked like the perfect landscape for photos. 😉
The entire Central Park loop is only 10 km if you want to walk (or run, like me) around it. I thought it would be a bit longer. I also expected running around it to be harder. 😃 My ambition was a little bigger! Despite my initial expectations, I really liked Central Park, especially the area near The Plaza Hotel (where Home Alone 2 was filmed).
The best view of my life was seeing skyscrapers rise above the trees while running—such an amazing sight! What’s more, there were runners everywhere. The whole park was full of them, and even traffic lights were set up for runners and cyclists when pedestrians wanted to cross the road. It felt like heaven for me as a professional athlete. Such an incredible experience!
